12-23-25 THOUGHTS
We continue to view our Creator from the next psalm. How good it is that we contemplate the awesomeness of our God! Albert Barnes comments on verse 7... “The idea is that of worship not merely as individuals, nor as a mere “aggregate” of individuals united by no common bonds, but as those united by strong ties; bound by blood and affection; constituted into communities. It is a call on such to worship God in their capacity as thus bound together; to come as families and to worship God.” This is part of the “ascribe” word. Ps 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." There’s an attitude here that we need to develop.
Ps 96:1-9 Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. 3 Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. 4 For great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens. 6 Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. 7 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory of His name; Bring an offering and come into His courts. 9 Worship the LORD in holy attire; Tremble before Him, all the earth.
Our Prayer:
Help us to ascribe all glory and strength to You, O Lord. May our lives consist in the proclaiming of the good news of Your salvation. Help us lift up our voices in praise and thanksgiving to Your great name. Father, bless the souls that meet in Rescue. Help us to bless you in the name of Christ our Lord, Amen. .
